Rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and extreme weather events are accelerating land degradation and economic instability. Nature-based solutions are urgently needed to build resilience. Trees play a vital role in climate change adaptation by cooling the environment, conserving soil moisture, and reducing land degradation. They protect against droughts and floods while supporting soil stability and groundwater recharge. Trees also provide alternative income through non-timber forest products. Integrating trees into landscapes enhances both resilience and sustainability. Amid climate-related challenges and unsustainable socio-economic practices, how do some communities manage to maintain or even improve their tree cover, making them more resilient to climate impacts than others? This study used the Data Powered Positive Deviance approach to explore community behaviors supporting tree preservation in Northern Ghana.

- [Deforestation, Cows, and Data Data Powered Positive Deviance Pilot in Ecuador’s Amazon](https://blog-datalab.com/deforestation-cows-and-data-data-powered-positive-deviance-pilot-in-ecuadors-amazon/): Deforestation is an alarming problem for the Amazon region. In Ecuador alone, the rainforest recedes by hundreds of hectares every year. This is almost exclusively due to agricultural activities — 99% overall, and 64% due specifically to pastureland (PROAmazonia, 2019). Put simply, much of the land originally covered by forest is now being transformed into pastureland. In fact, the rate of deforestation at the farm level in certain counties has grown tenfold between 2019 and 2020, from 1.3% to 13% (DPPD Ecuador initiative, 2020); and the deterioration of socio-economic conditions due to measures taken in response to the Covid pandemic is putting even more pressure on this precious natural resource.

In addition to farmer-level information on agricultural practices, training participation, cashew production and other relevant details (e.g. socio economics), the survey delineates and geo-captures the corresponding plots of each cashew farm.
